St. Hallvard-guttene (St. Hallvard Boys Choir)
St. Hallvard-guttene is an independent boy choir, having around 30 singers between 7 and 50 years of age. The oldest have been in the choir since boyhood. The choir runs Schola Cantorum song school for aspirants.
The choir was founded in 1962 by Øistein Vogt, is located in Oslo, and named after St. Hallvard, the city's patron saint.
Since 2007 the choir has been lead and conducted by Hans Martin Molvik, who has also been their song tutor. Other conductors have been Odd Helge Wettre, Danuta Kozon, Frano Thomas Martincevic and Tore Erik Moen.
The choir normally travels one or two times per year, and throughout their history they have visited most parts of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Hungary, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Benelux, France, Italy, Croatia, USA, Singapore and Australia. Since 1977 the choir has sung regularly in St. Peter`s Cathedral in Rome.
St. Hallvard-guttene has a broad repertoire, ranging from Gregorian church music, Renascence music, smaller classical works for choirs, folk music from Norway and other countries, to more modern choir works.
